After the Trump administration fired or lost (to “voluntary” departures) one-third of the government’s cybersecurity workforce in early 2025, CISA is now “hampered by an approximately 40% vacancy rate across key mission areas” and seeks to rebuild hiring efforts in 2026.
Turns out it’s hard to hire new people when they think (probably correctly) that you might lay them off on a whim.
