      **Context**: in 1429 King Sigismund of Hungary proposed to King Władysław of Poland to jointly annex Moldavia (North to Poland, South to Hungary) arguing that Moldavians are a bunch of thieves and brigands who didn’t help him against the Ottomans.

      Władysław declined claiming that Moldavians are Christians too, that not all of them are thieves and that it’s Sigismund’s fault for not turning up on time with them during the battle

    2. Good move by Władysław. Either:

      – Sigismund was lying: that move would be seen poorly and may create dangerous precedens; or

      – Sigismund was telling truth which would mean Władysław would add ton of thieves etc. to his country which would ruin its economy.
