Seems like kind of an honor to be portrayed by the biggest actor available in Western cinema at the time.
Yellowface was perfectly normal at the time, and although i’m sure some people laughed at it even then, it’s played straight and meant to be taken seriously. And if you have an imagination, you can even enjoy it for what it is too.
