They started asking us for 5+ years of experience for entry-level jobs, then acted surprised when we started selling custom t-shirts on Etsy instead.

I’m feeling this now. And you can’t forget to add, “Oh, and you need a Master’s and a PhD now”

Exactly, they keep moving things around so much it’s hard to keep up. Feels like the goalposts never stay in one place anymore.

business, engineering and medical degrees are worth something, almost all other degrees are a waste of money

The issue is the cost of getting a college education

The way my school was pushing college to some of my classmates who definitely should have went into Trade school was wild. Have a good amount of people I know that regretted trying college. I never seen my bro as happy as he is right now as an electrician

I have a friend going through this now. He got a degree two years ago and is having the hardest time finding a job in his field (tech). A few weeks ago he applied for a job (entry level) at the college he graduated from. The job is something he should be able to get with the degree he got. They ignored his resume smh

I was thinking just the other day that with the life I’ve wound up having, I’m so glad I don’t have student loans. They would have killed me.

100. 200. 300…. kids in that classroom every semester. There are no 100 plus jobs available. Mayyyybe 20.
Get that government works job out of high school!! Electrical, sanitation, plumbing, construction. Parks & Rec need all that.
I’d walk my dog through the park in the morning and dude is there hosing out the bathrooms, picking up garbage. We talk a bit and he says he’s close to “retiring.” The man is 38. He can take 80% at 20 years or 100% at 25 years of service. He took the 80% and got another job with the same district.

Going to college just to be told your degree is useless… if it’s useless why is it an option 😀

To be fair you should be looking at what jobs you’re after in the future when you’re getting a degree. I don’t think there’s much point getting a degree first and then looking for a job after. I got my degree in science shit because I saw there was a lot of science jobs going.

I have a friend with no college degree. She has a skill that her clients are willing to pay top dollar for. She’s debt free and living her best life.

Yep, exactly. We were told to get a degree or be stuck at dead end jobs. Costs less to forgive student loans than what they have handed out elsewhere…
