The man who did it got 7 years, and wasn’t charged with rape. At the time the laws didn’t include anal penetration as rape, they didn’t extend the laws beyond vaginal penetration until 2013. He got virtually no punishment for what he did to her.

I know this doesn’t help but I have read instances that said that the nurses at the hospital took very good care of her. They used to talk to her and treat her well, feeding her, bathing her and everything. It’s a very sad sad story but this is something that made me feel minutely better.
