Same thing happened to me, because I sit with that leg curled under my other leg. Too funny

Had a bro wipe out on his motorcycle. As a result of road rash, the same thing happened to him.

    3. Hi all! Thanks for your suggestions on potential medical issues!

However, I’m fairly certain it’s because of the amount of road rashes I had on that leg from slide tackling while playing soccer as a youth.

I’ve had it for 15+ years now with no other issues/symptoms with the leg.

Do you sleep on your left side? I sleep on my back and have no hair on the backs of my legs.

    5. I don’t grow much hair from my ankles upwards about 4-5 inches, I used to ride bmx and do some mountain biking now and I’ve took alot of pedals to the legs and such so I always put it down to that, no idea if thats actually got anything to do with it though 😅

I had the same thing happen when I started wearing ankle socks. Had to go back to the old tubers to regain my manliness

My legs have very little hair in the spot like yours but on both legs. Mine is probably from sitting cross-legged all the time.

I am disappointed that there isnt an in-depth medical diagnosis response in the comment section yet.

Where are you our medical expert redditors, I want to learn something today.

Both of my lower legs are partially barren but its from sitting on a yoga ball instead of an office chair.

    10. Pants.

My calves wind up mostly bald in the winter, with hair only growing where the pants and socks don’t touch (under the muscle, between shin bone and calf on the inside.)

Bet you wear something on your hip that moves your pants more on that side, or you like to rest it on something, like a desk maybe, or chair leg? Or even your car door while driving?

    11. I don’t grow hair on my lower legs from wearing long socks and boots for so long in the military. Even now that I’ve stopped wearing boots it still doesn’t grow.

    12. It could be nothing, but I have a sneaking suspicion that you lack collateral arterial circulation on that half of your leg. I would love to see an angiogram.

Hairless legs is one of the first signs of arterial disease. You could have a genetic variation that just dropped the peroneal artery. This…just kind of happens some times. I learned in cadaveric anatomy no two people are built the same. We saw a lot of wild normal anatomic variations.

I looked into something similar when I was in my early 30s. Its basically the same gene as male pattern baldness but it triggers for your legs. When I looked it up over a decade ago, they were not sure why because no one cares enough to do the research.

Here is a article about it.
