I tried to order a Double from Wendy’s during early covid. The drive-thru clerk told me they weren’t selling Doubles because of the beef shortage. So I ordered two singles.

Isn’t it because mains are usually less profitable than sides and drinks on fast foods? Maybe they’re just reducing stock expenditure to strengthen profits (more patties = more burgers that can be sold in meals). Sounds silly for 1 extra patty but yeah.
