Obama has been quietly raising his profile the last few weeks. I think he’s making sure this would be a viable option, if needed. At the very least, he might be betting his presence would discourage Trump from trying. Losing to Obama would be Trump’s greatest nightmare.

I don’t even know how either one of them could constitutionally be on the ballot. I think the main risk is that the R’s run someone else and Trump just won’t leave no matter who wins. The good news is that he has a good chance of dying before then.

They literally can’t. If they repeal the rule for one, they do it for all.
What’s funny is FDR is the reason the Republicans created the rule and as soon as they remove this amendment, the Dems will return to power.
