
The Ishtar Gate in its original location, built around 575 BC under King Nebuchadnezzar II as one of the grand entrances to Babylon. The Ottoman Empire granted excavation permits to German archaeologists in 1899, and the gate was later transported to the Pergamon Museum in Berlin. [1638×2048]
