    1. I hope nobody comes to say that they hope nobody comes to say that they should donate it to the poor

Totally agree with the sentiment, but damn he had to mess up by saying ‘year 0’. There was no year 0.

It’s all make believe money anyways. When the banks crash and roving carnival gangs take over, your digital bank accounts won’t matter.

    4. Remember: Elon is not getting a trillion USD handed to him NOW. Shareholders voted yes for a compensation package of 423.7 million performance-based restricted shares (roughly ~12% of Tesla’s current shares) that Musk could earn by achieving each tranche of the associated performance milestones.

To unlock the full payout, Tesla and Musk must meet both market-value and operational targets, including but not comprehensively:

      * Start at US$2 trillion, then successive increases (~US$500 billion steps) culminating at US$8.5 trillion.
      * Operational / product goals: For example:
      * Deliver ~20 million vehicles (cumulatively) over the period.
      * Deploy ~1 million robo-taxis in commercial operation.
      * Manufacture ~1 million humanoid robots (Tesla’s “Optimus”)

    5. A cube shaped box 10x10x10 m contains 1 trillion cubic mm. So roughly the number of sugar grains that could fit in a fairly large house.

      Tesla’s current value: $1.5T

      Toyota’s current value: $266B

Tesla’s net income last year: $7B

Toyota’s net income last year: $32B

Tesla has almost 6 times the valuation and less than a quarter of the profits. But sure, it’ll get to $10T value cuz “robots”

    7. The problem is a net worth vs actually having the money.

I hate the fucking guy but he doesn’t have nor will he ever have a trillion dollars.

A billion is still obscene. For him to collect on that “wealth” he’d have to liquidate his huge amount of stock and if he did it all at once it would absolutely TANK the company and stock values.

It’s all just smoke and mirrors.

With inflation and interest, you’d have several trillion dollars.  Inflation was very high in medieval times, the high inflation is actually why the period is termed ‘medieval’.
