The job hunt really is just a series of boss fights that end with “position filled.”

And then you get called lazy for not getting a job.
Like, bruh, what more do you want me to do?

The real kicker is that someone was the CEO nephew who didn’t even have to interview. We have all been there

Going through all that and pretending you weren’t good enough before bringing in a slave labor H1-B to exploit is somehow still cheaper than hiring an American.

On occasion I apply for a position, then a month and a half later I get a email saying they went with another candidate. Then three months later I see the same position open again so I am like well better stay from that company.

Makes you wonder if the job aplication foorum horror resides on the idea of getting a job or getting rejected

well today everyone can easily send hundreds of applications. However if you send 1000 applications clearly only few of them are for a position you are actually interested in AND you are qualified for. In the meantime also other people send hundreds of applications.
Then on the opposite side HR receives all the applications for random candidates and has to apply automatic filters before the interviews, and then during the interviews it will be more selective, even if at the end the best candidate will reject the position as he/she wasn’t really interested in the job.
TLDR: the more random applications people do the lower is the percentage of successful hiring processes.

If it will make you feel better, that position probably wasn’t open in the first place. The candidate was already selected from inner pool from the start, they just have to make its public to make it look open, fair and transparent

Your job market must really suck in America.. Hope you guys will get better living conditions soon.. It seems completely messed up looking at it from the outside.

Well, to play the devil’s advocate (based on a friend’s experience being a boss)
When you are looking at job applications, you read through one in less than 10 seconds. You have so many, you look for exact criterias, the rest is just for ‘’decoration’’. When you have hundreads, even thousands, you could literally skip someone’s application, just because the first lines don’t meet what you expect
It’s how it’s made, job applicants can’t do more, and recruiters gotta make a choice, and they don’t have much time for it

If you’re sending out thousands of applications, chances are everyone else is too, so these companies might get thouaands of applications for one spot, its not a massive shock that you don’t get it
