Steam locomotive 25 years ago?
I live in a 3rd world country and we had diesel ones 25 years ago, and steam locomotives in museums.

I call bullshit on this one… 26 years ago is like year 2000. I don’t think they were running steam locomotives anywhere in the world, except for tourist locomotives. Most developing nations switched to deisel locomotives somewhere around 1960s-1980s.

China had at least until 2022 some steam locomotives in use in some areas where coal is mined. At the time they already had modern factories, EVs, photovoltaik, ….
This post suggests that China made in 26 years a jump from the past into the future but the truth is the country has many faces. It´s hard to describe in one post.
