I think the left aren’t aware of the delicate balancing act Democratic leadership have to perform.

Endorse Mamdani: “look see he is part of the establishment!”
Doesn’t Endorse Mamdani: “why won’t the establishment endorse him!?!?”

Theyre not on the same side as Mamdani

Schumer has outlived his shelf-life. Jeffries can’t talk right down to earth in a language we can easily understand. He’s out there talking about “rescissions” to describe what the GOP did to the bill everyone agreed to prior to The Felon tampering with it. He’s playing nice with Vance while Vance goes out & pulls no punches, even throwing in a low blow here & there with no consequences. Would love to see Cory Booker take Schumer’s place & just to piss off the right, AOC take Jeffries’.
These two didn’t endorse Mamdani as it would be used in campaign ads against them in sensationalized fashion by the GOP.

Chuck wanted to endorse him but the Bailey’s disapproved.

People are going to be extremely sad when it turns out Mamdami isn’t the bleeding edge of some great revolutionary wave, because it’s just a mayordom, NYC politics are pretty unique in the country, and his opponent was impressively bad (And Trump and Musk made it even worse, if I were a politician I’d rather be endorsed by a lamprey).
Nobody’s gonna care 2 weeks after he’s sworn in beyond MAGA becoming absolutely obsessed for a while. Granted, him driving the GOP absoutely insane and them doing more stupid illegal shit about it might have an actual impact.

Understand that establishment Dems are feeding at many of the same troughs as Republicans.
Getting money out of politics is the real answer to saving democracy. The Citizens Inited ruling accelerated the concentration of power in the hands of the uber wealthy and their interests, ensuring that anyone who’s interests aren’t aligned with the billionaires and are aligned with the people instead, are at a significant disadvantage.

Why would they endorse a DSA candidate?

Not even remotely surprised that you guys didn’t know that Jefferies did endorse Mamdani, gotta just pile on the hate, don’t actually use your brain

Mamdani faced off against the entire might of AIPAC’s political machine and won. It can be done. AIPAC’s successes came from staying out of the public eye and quietly giving both parties money to smother any real discussion of Zionism. Those days are over.
Man you guys really couldn’t have waited a single day to not bash democrats huh? You know they also won all over the country too 🙄

End of story.

And they will actively undermine him in the party. Count on it.

“Just remember, national Democrats didn’t endorse a mayor who isn’t popular on the national stage!”
Why not just enjoy the win? Why cry about politicians making political decisions? Do Senators and Congresspeople usually weigh in on mayor races anyway?
EDIT: oh wow, he’s not even above 50% in NYC! To be clear, I’m glad he won and he did run a great campaign! He was definitely helped a lot by running against Adams and Cuomo though.
I’ll at least give them some credit sticking to their guns on this shutdown. It looked a little touch and go early on but they are winning the political battle and sticking it to Trump (and his approval rating). I’d like to see them both replaced with a new wave of democratic leadership but I’ll break off a little credit where it’s due.

Jeffries did endorse him, gtfo with this bullshit.
You don’t help the new guy by attaching him to the old guard
So many people here think this is about Mamdani or about “leftist infighting” or something.Â
This is about the two most important congressional leaders in the Democratic party utterly failing at leadership.Â
They have outlived their relevance and they need to make room for new leadership.Â
True to form, this has got to be the dumbest comment section I’ve seen on Reddit in quite some time.
