Capitalism is a system that rewards the concentration of wealth (power); wealth will never “trickle down” to the lower classes in a meaningful way without taxation, because no group ever surrenders power willingly. They essentially own our governments; why would they give that up unless we force them?

no because the rich will just move

edit:lot’s of people are commenting that they won’t leave etc but you forget that, in many places, there’s laws that help you “move” or go around paying taxes and keep their assets, you are all naive to think that governments aren’t in their pocket. Plus ok they leave the businesses behind but whos gonna take care of the company or business and pay their employees? the state? you?
i agree that we should tax them but you are all naive if you think it’s all black and white like that

2nd edit: freezing their bank accounts? yeah im sure they keep their money at their local bank, and not in somewhere obscure like idk offshores. Also it’s 100% guaranteed that the bank owners aren’t corrupt rats themselves

    3. Which problem the government did not solve with 5 trillion per year, that it would have solved if it had a bit more?

We taxed the rich in the 50s and 60s and we built a shit ton of schools, hospitals, roads, the interstate system, went to the moon, all while funding the cold war. Ya, taxing the rich works.

    5. No this is if *all* countries taxed the rich, if just one country did they would likely move somewhere else. Why do you think there are so many rich dickheads in Dubai?

    6. *if they don’t tax the rich at all, then you might have these cool machines since they would all come to invest their tech on your soil

    7. Can’t believe the amount of people that believe this bullshit. Are they actually stupid?

    8. Ah yes, the legendary nation of Tomorrowland—where the top 0.5% pay taxes in good vibes. Truly a utopia. 😌✨
Meanwhile, back in reality, my tax form just asked if I wanted to round up to help the rich buy another yacht. I said “Sure, but only if it’s solar-powered and comes with a free NFT.

    9. That’d require flat taxes. No one wants that. It’d kill the tax industry. (It’s messed up that an industry for taxes exist, at least as far as taxes for the common man.)

    10. Here in america the top 5% pay 70% of the taxes. So they are being taxed already, but not to the same standard as the rest of America. The problem is the politicians giving billionaires so many benefits and loopholes to use that they also benefit from. The rich and the politicians all help each other while they laugh at us fighting each other for their own political and economic gain

      Riiiiiight.

Because the rich are going to standstill and get gutted whilst you build your socialist dreamworld.

Let’s see how that works out in New York.

    12. The United States government spends four trillion dollars a year. You can do anything with 4 trillion dollars. The government simply chooses not to. We don’t have a tax problem we have a spending problem. But when we tried to audit the spending everyone got really mad. If you confiscate all of the money of all the billionaires in the United States you would fund the federal government for 6 months. With 4 trillion dollars you could find every program you want there would be no hungry bellies and every American will be housed within the first year. But no we just send the money away

There are taxes on the rich but they do some legal tax evasion and pay like nothing

    14. That’s what the government needs. More money. That would fix everything. More money into the education system, into healthcare, into immigration and into well accepted policies.

      /s

Don’t forget the government already has an unlimited money printer to do whatever they want. So then what’s really the problem? It can’t be lack of money. On most of the issues we are already spending way more than any other country with little to show for it.

    15. Every country already tried this. Every tax started has a tax for the rich, see how it turn out

    16. Optimistic, true to an extent but it would clearly not solve the problems, it would only allow to solve them and that’s why we have to tax them.

    17. CreativeAdeptness477 on

Lol implying that any government that has the balls would also have the competence

    18. You can’t believe how hard that would trigger my mates.

They would rage mumble something about that all the rich would leave the country and take all their money with them, leaving us in ruin

Just wait till this guy finds out most lesser rich people pay their years worth of salary in a quarter lol

1 of the upsides of being rich; able to move to any country you like… 🤷‍♂️

    21. There’s plenty to say, and everyone wants to give their own opinion. Factually, if every country did this, the world would indeed improve. We have to hold up the government just as accountable, though both the rich and the people in power politically need to be put on a tighter leash. More of the people in power than the rich.

    22. y’all act like the government will put that money to good use instead of enriching themselves
