      **Context**: During the Russian Civil War both the Reds and Whites had a commander of Moldovan (Romanian) descent.

      On the Red side there’s Mikhail Frunze who’s father was from modern day Moldova. “Frunze” even being a Romanian word meaning “leaves” (the original name being “Frunză” which is the singular form and is an actual surname in Romania & Moldova)

      On the white side is the well known Alexander Kolchak who was a descendant of Moldavian mercenary from the 18th Century named IliaÈ™ Colceag
