I really hope I’m wrong, but at this point, I don’t see it happening. What does he gain from it? He’s got everything and has to appease no Americans for anything anymore. He could say “Fuck your tax returns, I’m keeping them” and his dipshit followers would spin it into a positive and keep gobbling his knob.

I disagree because 1. As someone else has already stated, he gains little from this and 2. This assumes a level of political competence that i don’t think the Trump administration has and 3. Its was to risky considering the set up is “have the government shutdown for over a month”

Might be too late by then. That’s 3+ weeks of people not able to buy food. While people can and probably will budget and ration through what they can stockpile now to last that long, it’s an incredibly psychologically damaging experience to be food insecure for that long. And when people are scared/desperate bad things happen.

This may seem like a unique opportunity and I’m thinking Republican lawmakers at this point might be ready to implement their plan of literally starving the working class people they despise so much. At the very least they will be internally disappointed in Trump if he follows through with his narcissitic plan.

Exactly. Trump created problems with his trade policies, trade wars and tariffs, got minor concessions from all the chaos he created (10% back of the 100% he lost), when none of this would have been an issue had he just maintained the status quo and rode the Biden/Harris economy while he played golf and avoided jail.
