    1. It’s so annoying that we really can’t do nothing about this. They get to do shit like inside trading and get no repercussions because they are the one making the laws and it will never change. We gotta return to the tar and feather era

Congress out here voting no on their own pay cut like we vote no on their nonsense every election, but they still get that direct deposit while we wait on stimulus crumbs.

    3. I say this every time this comes up. Its a good thing for Congress to have a well paying salary. They need to pay for two places to live, one where they’re from and one in DC. All that happens with taking money away is providing more leverage for the rich and corrupt to lean on the people who are like us. The last thing we want is for a Congress position to be something only rich people can afford to have.

The actual change that would make sense is if recall elections were triggered by shutdowns.

While federal workers scraping for rent, these mfs in suits projected to keep stacking checks like it’s reparations they ain’t giving out.

It’s fucking ridiculous that the people to vote on raises/pay cuts for Congress…is _Congress_.

Shutdown got us out here rationing ramen, but Congress like ‘projected not to pass’? Cool, y’all can afford the Uber Eats on our dime anyway.

    7. If you suspend pay during a shutdown, the rich can literally indefinitely shutdown congress until those representing the people literally cannot afford to survive and have to resign or kowtow.

And it’s such an easy win for Republicans too. The perfect opportunity to cast themselves as martyrs for the cause. “If the American people suffer, we suffer with them. We don’t get paid until the dems reopen.”

But nope, greed. Greed above all. The fact that they don’t even care about the optics should tell you how much they care about the consequences.

    9. A lot of people blame congress and ignore which party has congress, the executive branch, the judicial branch, and is legit destroying the White House to build a ballroom while people start to starve.

    10. One for you. One for me. Two for you. One, two for me. Three for you. One, two, three for me. Four for you. One, two, three, …

    11. Hey, some of these congressmen work 6 months out of the year and only have discretionary funds for things like food, housing, travel, entertainment, government funded insurance, and only make $200k a year. You can’t treat them like the military or poor people and expect them to go without.
