Facts, Jamaican in Jamaica right now going through it and all the white foreign media coverage was disgusting

    2. As someone who lived through Irma and Maria, all my prayers are to Jamaica.

As a West Indian and also former meteorologist, I see what he means in terms of annoyance especially since Jamaica never gets proper coverage by the news for anything else but for real they are trying to scare people so they take this shit seriously, that’s half of the job.

It would be more of a red flag to me if they said “this hurricane is no big deal” knowing damn well the destruction it could actually cause with its 13-16ft storm surge and 40 inches of estimated rainfall totals, if they really wanted Jamaica to be ripped apart they would give little to no coverage till the aftermath.

      Just continue to pray.

as someone who has lived in Louisiana for 20+ years, people ALWAYS love when hurricanes are destructive but aren’t hitting them. I have a coworker who is constantly saying she can’t wait for the next big hurricane. our meteorologists travel around to different storms and look like they’re having the time of their lives on camera talking about how strong the winds are gonna be. I don’t think this is anti black. this is people loving having something negative to talk about.

also, if you don’t act like a hurricane is going to destroy you onsite, people don’t take it seriously. underestimating hurricanes leads to way more deaths

      “this storm is mEtEoRoLoGiCaLlY pErFeCt”

I promise you ghouls there’s a better way to word that

    6. After seeing how DR just got hit, that hurt. Im keeping my Jamaican brothers and sisters on my heart.

    7. I’m tuned into this part of Twitter, given that I myself am a meteorologist student, and I’m not really seeing this? I’m mostly seeing people shocked about how strong Melissa got, how quickly it happed, and the threat it is to the islands of Jamaica in addition to Cuba and the Bahamas.

    8. anti-blackness is everywhere. the shit on twitter is sickening. they are literally openly taking pleasure in whats happening

    9. last year when i was desperately trying to get updates about hurricane milton because half my family lives there and we didn’t want to loose everything I realize “hurricane trackers” and I were rooting for the opposite thing. they were DISAPPOINTED when the storm diverted from tampa bay and saved billions of dollars of damage and hundreds of lives. literally i had to read posts about “why didn’t the storm do more damage?” it was sick.

and worse they were fearmongering people who were looking for real advice. telling people in concrete houses miles away from the storm surge to evacuate causing gridlock so the people who actually needed to evacuate couldn’t do so quickly.

its not that much of a race thing these people are sickos for destruction
