    1. Emperor Ferdinand I of the Austrian Empire was emperor from 1835 till 1848, when he abdicated after the Revolutions of 1848. A Habsburg, Ferdinand suffered from severe inbreeding, which caused him to develop Hydrocephalus, which left him with SEVERE seizures (so severe it apparently even affected his wedding) and with a massively enlarged cranium, leading to his… interesting portraits.

In the 1860s Ferdinand was captured on photo for the first time, revealing that not only were his portraits quite close to reality, but also that his forehead really *was* that big.

It is like Charles II of Spain (another member of the family).

They were both born sick and deformed thanks to centuries of incest, yet they both tried to govern the best they could.

Ferdinand I in particoular was known for his generosity and being genuely beloved by those he hsd known him. He treated servants with respect and, after abdicating, he was by all accounts far happier living an isolate life with his garden and books

Idk man, my country was unluckly enough to have the Savoys. I would gladly take this dude over Umberto I or his descendants

    3. Showed this to my GF and she was like “oh that’s not even the worst.” Imagine being fucking Frankenstein’s monster and you’re not even the gross one
