Yeah. Grandma was taking the same pills as the druggies. Uppers and downers, over the counters, to keep the little lady happy at home. Weirdly, it wasn’t so wild a time.

Some context – My grandmother had late stage cancer at the time. She passed away a year after this pack was manufactured. So dangerous as these were, these would have really helped with the suffering.

In case anyone is curious but doesn’t care to look it up, the active ingredients in Vesparax were:
Secobarbital, Rallobarbital and Hydroxyzine
Two barbiturates and an antihistamine. If that shit didn’t put you to sleep, nothing would. Also it was entirely possible that nothing would wake you up.

Barbiturates mixed with hydroxyzine! Hard to believe you’d be able to wake up without still feeling groggy lol. Barbiturates have always been fine for me, but hydroxyzine causes the worst grogginess.

Should have Jimi Hendrix on the label
AKA the drug that killed Jimi Hendrix.
Over-the-counter Barbiturates?
Are you experienced?
