      The second one is because J makes a “H” sound in other languages like Spanish

    2. Making a comment as someone who speaks some Spanish;

      Jose is a Spanish name. The J is pronounced as an H because that’s how Spanish works. English is an amalgamation of several languages, and we borrow plenty of words. Similarly, the double L in quesadilla is pronounced as a Y sound because that’s how Spanish works.
