It’s hardly a cold war fortress though, construction started in 1901 and most of it was slowly retired after WW2. Did some exist during the cold war? Sure, but it wasn’t its primary purpose.

TIL: The Cold War started in 1901, that’s when they started the construction of this bunker network.
Parts where still in use during the Cold War but it was mostly obsolete by then.
