This corelle bowl was in the sink and suddenly broke in a wavy pattern, right after a thunderstorm.

Corelle can be wild like that. Sudden temperature or pressure change after a storm could’ve triggered the stress in the glass.

I once had one shatter in a dishwasher into tiny cubes. Like tempered glass. Was a real treat for the waste disposal system. It is near “iron clad” but it can and will shatter when it’s the least opportune at times.

There is a lot more involved with the physics of it, but sometimes it just breaks to be easy.

      Harmonics is powerful

Legend has the Tibetan monks used it to lift boulders hundreds of feet into the air

    4. Good looking bowl. Rip and thanks for your service. You were a good bowl. And now gone. Seriously that sucks. Hard to to replace good ones

I’ve never seen a Corelle plate break. They usually shatter into the sharpest tiny fragments.

    6. Yeah they can do that. Differences in temperature  can cause stress that can spilt them. I had one do it while was eating dinner. While it’s rare it does happen.

    7. You’re very lucky it didn’t do the usual corelle break into ten billion super sharp and jagged pieces that love to jump everywhere
