Oh my gosh! It’s astonishing that this was ever recommended. I’ve never seen or heard of this, but don’t EVER do that! Very harmful chemicals could be released into the air of the home. Not only that, but many modern batteries could explode if placed into a fire. What’s the source on this? What year was this recommended?
