A juror eventually admitted, in an interview, that the decision was in retaliation for the beating of Rodney King.

The 90s and 2000’s were a bit of a dark age for civil rights and social justice, you’d see media like Fresh Prince of Bel-Air being incredibly self-critical and tone deaf in its early seasons while the loudest voices in discussions of African American discourse were people like Bill Cosby complaining about how disheveled poor black teenagers look all the time.

Almost all disadvantaged groups do this. It’s why I don’t feel as much sympathy for people in general because once that group is in power they would do the same exact thing as anyone else.
