When you’re so rich you can literally buy an island and make a real-life game of Sims with it. Lifestyle Goals or dystopian scenario?

    2. Instead of a flat rate for minimum wage, make it a percentage. Limit companies to only 100 people in other words.

He got pulled over in his super car by the police on the island that he basically owns last year by the police he employed it made the news

    4. Is that last part really true? I thought one could incorporate a new municipality/county in the US based on individuals voting for it, not who owns the most land?

    5. Imagine paying property taxes on 98% of an island. Actually wait, he probably doesn’t pay taxes at all.

    6. It’s also like the crummiest island. I’ve been to Hawaii many times (Kauai, Oahu, the big island, Maui, and Lanai). Lanai is a dust bowl. It sucks.

    7. Never heard of him until now.  I recognise the Oracle logo, but couldnt tell you what they do.

I don’t find this interesting at all, in fact it’s really depressing how we’re getting used to news like this. Disgusting display of wealth inequality. Frankly makes my blood boil

    10. so what he wants something to happen and people just don’t?

what if his legally captive population resists and proves that his ownership is only a concept and not the reality of things, that the people who live and work and maintain the land are the ones with true power?

Don’t fuck up unless you have a means of protecting yourself from 4,000 angry people when you visit
