    1. The human jaw is shrinking, due to processed food and eating habits, but the number of teeth is the same

    2. Teeth are extremely genetic, some people take the best care of theirs and yet they have lots of problems while some take almost no care and still have very nice teeth. 🤷‍♂️

      In the early ages, there wasn’t so much processed sugar in food. They didn’t need oral hygiene of our level.

    4. Before the Middle Ages, tooth decay wasn’t such a threat due to sugar not being in our diet. There is a very interesting section of a documentary with Suzanna Lipscomb where this is very well explained and they even compare two separate skulls to show it.

      A lot of folks already mentioned the chewing, but I’ve heard that toxins also play a part.

      The reason their teeth are straighter is because humans have been slowly evolving smaller mouths without decreasing the number of teeth

    8. This is just a guess, but I’m thinking that skull was from a dude who died young, so tooth decay didn’t set in yet.

    9. The softness of modern day food is partially to blame.

      We’ve done this to ourselves. Softness, sugar, additives. Generations will pass and our teeth will adapt

      Teeth begun to be messed up when we started to consume sugar and cereals in massive quantities.
