Context: online, the Nation of Islam is best known for their belief in Yakub, a big headed man who created white people. Yakub doesn’t exist in the Quran (some claim he’s Jacob, son of Isaac, but the evidence isn’t compelling), but that’s typical of a lot of the beliefs of the NOI because most of them are not in the Quran. For example, the NOI does not believe in an afterlife. They do not believe in one immortal God but several mortal Gods. They believe that their founder Wallace Fard Muhammad is the savior instead of Muhammad. They believe that the end time event is the Mother Plane, which will destroy the earth and bring the NOI followers to a better place.
I’m white and from a Catholic family, so I’m by no means an Islamic scholar, and yet I still know more than the average NOI member.

Well when you realize it’s just some crazy guy trying to make an exotic sounding cult it makes perfect sense. You gotta stop taking loons seriously man, they didn’t get there by reason and they won’t be cured by it.

I don’t know anything about the Nation of Islam and know very little about Islam in general. So I checked Wikipedia to see if I could notice anything Un-Islamic. And I found this in one of the first paragraphs.
>The Nation teaches that there has been a succession of mortal gods, each a black man named Allah, of whom Fard Muhammad is the latest.
That is like the least Muslim thing I ever heard.

What’s funny/exhausting is when someone who doesn’t know much about either just assumes they’re related

Honestly the weirdest part to me was how the group calls itself the Nation Of Islam, and one of its’ tenets is that Wallace Fard Muhammad is “Allah Incarnate”. For instance, this is what is mentioned about the beliefs of its’ founder Wallace on Wikipedia:
Modern Nation of Islam theology is based upon the belief that Fard’s teaching of Elijah Muhammad was fulfillment of scripture regarding God’s teaching of an Apostle, where Fard is described as “God in Person” (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wallace_Fard_Muhammad#Ideology)
Like how do the members even call themselves Islamic after that, when Islam’s whole narrative is that it is the true religion here to do away with all sorts of “false idolatry” which includes the belief that God can become a man (which is where Islam digresses with Christianity- it holds Jesus is an important prophet of God, but not God Himself). That’s kind of like a group called the United Council Of Vegans gathering together and feasting on McDonald’s chicken burgers.

Wallace Fard Muhammad was some sort of demon or something. He showed up out of nowhere, preached that white people were genetic abominations created by an evil scientist from the Bible, then disappeared after 4 years of proselytizing when one of his parishioners beat a man to death in a human sacrifice.
