    1. This fills my wholesomeness battery for the day.

I live so close to LDN, I wish I’d known the tournament was on or I’d have checked it out!

    2. Y’all. I saw some of these guys at Tokyo Station one day.

I didn’t know humans could get this big. And I have been around college football linemen.

Little preschool kids would run up for pictures and the sumo wrestlers were very friendly and accommodating.

But they could have picked up one of those kids as a snack.

    3. This is interesting AF. I’m visiting London and passed by two of these guys at the British museum.

there’s gotta be way more respect for sumo wrestlers than most ppl think. They’re big, but the amount of skill, discipline, and strength it requires is mad.

    5. It was only the 2nd time in the sport’s 500+ year history the Grand Sumo tournament took place outside of Japan. The fact that 2 Yokozunas were also present made it even more special, including Japanese born Onosato. Very rare moment in sumo and sport’s history in general.

The London sumo tournament’s actually historic. It’s only the second time in around 1,500 years that a full professional basho’s been held outside Japan. The last one was in 1991, also at the Royal Albert Hall.

Imagine flying halfway round the world to crush people for honour, then having to pay £7 for a fucking Pret sandwich.
