I met him at Gainesville airport around 04ish while working for security. He was a sincerely nice guy.

I was privileged to be a stage manager for a show he did in the 1980s. He shredded it. I ended up giving him a ride to the airport the next morning and told him that watching him play guitar, how he made it look so easy, was the only time I ever wanted to learn guitar. He looked at me real seriously and said “Do it! It will feed you one day!”. While I never learned guitar, I still mix a lot of live bands. He was the boss. Effortlessly had that guitar singing like an angel.
