This was the best decade to grow up in. I am from Germany but I saw all these acts live no phones.
What an experience it was.

I was a little too young to remember that Amnesty festival. Coincidentally, I was at the last ever show at the the old LA Sports Arena, and it was Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band back in 2016.

The only artist I never saw on this bill was Henry Lee Summer, who, frankly, doesn’t ring any bells for me. But, I spent that decade pretty coked up.

Never heard of Acoustic Alchemy, so smooth.

Saw two of these tours, in the SF Bay area…
Winger/Scorpions at the Cow Palace and the Amnesty International at Candlestick.
I was way into Heavy Metal, but my dad invited me along to the Amnesty gig, and I remember how great Peter Gabriel was. Joan Baez was a surprise opener and also great.

40 years later … most of these bands are still touring. sadly.

Pure rock history on one page. Imagine being there in ‘88 surrounded by that energy and those legendary names live.

I was at the Judas Priest/Slayer tour in Vancouver BC. 88 so it must have been the Ram It Down tour. I’ve probably seen Slayer more than any other metal band but never really went to see Slayer until later in life. They were always on tour with bands I wanted to see. I think I’ve seen them 5 times now. JP, Ozzfest, Montreal MTL Fest, Rob Zombie and the most insane show, Pantera.
