Its unpopular to even consider nuance with colonialism because of the racist vibes.

On the one hand, invading and marginalizing the native population is always a bad thing.

On the other, finder’s keepers, I got here *first*, is a terrible argument for who has the ultimate right to a land forever more.

    2. I am a proponent of both the self-determination of all peoples, and of refraining from judging historical events through a modern lens.

This sub and idolizing colonial Spain for some reason:

“Hot brown native women love their white chad conquistadores!”

I see this at least once a week, bros…

“Yo dudes! the colonial Empire is pretty chill, you could join it or something.”

    5. Counter argument, without colonialism I wouldn’t be able to enjoy a nice plate of chicken tiki masala and a nice hot chocolate to drink while reading a book on native American mythology and the similar stories it has to Norse mythology.

    6. Without colonialism, we wouldn’t be in a far worse state globally.

Plus, it created the United States. So it’s all worth it to me. Plus, you know, it’s our land now. American land. That includes natives, but doesn’t exclude other Americans. So fuck off, trying to constantly assault the very idea of the United States, which is what a lot of the “anti-colonialism” memes do.

    7. Even worse on r/philosophymemes. It’s like the most batshit takes professed by people who are doing armchair philosophy. There was even a week long discussion on whether you have to have read any philosophy to do philosophy, I shit you not.

Remember people, this all happened in the past, and we shouldn’t judge people for there time.

So, that’s why Holocaust was actually-
