This is the same kind of uniform I wore as a pom pom girl in the late 1970’s. A HOT wool sweater with either a mock turtleneck or white blouse underneath, and a pleated miniskirt with matching spandex bloomers underneath. In the fall and spring, you sweltered in the sweater but your legs felt fine; in the winter the sweater suited but your legs froze.
We used to wear pantyhose over panties, but under the bloomers and skirt – with bobby socks over the hose with our saddle shoes. A couple of years later, cheerleader and pom pom uniforms looked like this:

yep, was a varsity cheerleader in 1987 & there were 2 Jessica‘s, 2 Jennifer’s, 2 Sarah’s, then a Robin & Diana, kid you not. And all of us had hair like the second row, middle, girl. I also remember when I was a cheerleader in grade school, We still wore saddle shoes (before athletic shoes became popular), and we used to have to polish them with white shoe polish before games.I sincerely miss those times
