And then you have the guy that thought the Aztecs (yes aztecs not the maya or an older culture) sailed across the Atlantic to teach the egyptians and greeks culture. Oh and that this interaction is where the concept of the Christian God came from

They kinda knew there were things but there were no maps of it, this is what explorers like Columbus brought back, maps.

Columbus may not have discovered America but it’s hard to against his expeditions to the Americas being one of, if not the most consequential

It was obviously Amerigo Vespucci. That’s why it’s named after him.

Irish makes sense, in the context of being part of the Scandinavian voyages to Newfoundland and possibly Nova Scotia, often as thralls.

So when did Jesus visit America? I don’t think we covered that in Sunday school

I think it’s possible that living Japanese blown off course made it pre-1492. It’s also possible that Polynesians discovered mainland America, as evidenced by the spread of the sweet potato to pacific islands. Finally, while unlikely, it’s not completely out of the realm of possibility that Chinese explorers like Zheng He made it as well. Anything else is highly unlikely to essentially impossible.

But the Vikings did! They also left the largest shit ever recorded, in England.

There’s actually a pretty high chance that a nonzero amount of Japanese fishermen throughout history would’ve been washed off course enough by particularly strong ocean currents to end up on the inhabited west coast of America. We can guess this because it’s happened in modern times. Thing is once they were there, there would be no way for them to get back and they’d basically fade into obscurity if they survived long at all, so not sure it counts but interesting to think about.

It’s actually not unlikely that people from China did land in the Americas, but they also never made it back and China had had no idea that anything was there.

I really enjoyed the recent lore lodge video about the “Moon Eyed” native Americans. Or the Welsh native Americans. Was a really interesting video. Is it true, maybe, somewhat probable but likely no.
