I can still remember giving a kid of essentially the same look as the one pictured, my twizzlers out my MRE on patrol one day in marjah. He was so happy. I’ll always remember his smile.

Hearts and minds, I would always give kids my candy out my MREs when I was in Afghanistan. The kids can’t help where they are at and at the very least we should come off friendly to them.
