    1. Remember the days of being able to let a whole video pre load. Not so important now with faster speeds but was a cool feature.

    2. I remember this old technique I had where those little yellow boxes in the bar you could just skip past them in the video bar and they would disappear meaning the add wouldn’t play

    3. I don’t mind the modern progress bar design at all but I do miss when the progress bar was always displayed underneath the video constantly instead of the auto-hiding transparent thing we get now.

2011-2012 looked so good. I really wish that Holo UI never got ditched in favor of material design.

    5. Kinda interesting how people like old YouTube bar better. I love the newer look of it but I didn’t like the next button. It rarely if ever had anything I wanted to watch next but I don’t watch playlists or anything like that. I jump from creator to creator and video to video.

    6. missed one — earlier this year youtube started randomly toying with the color magenta – specifically a gradient from red to magenta in their bar

    7. A lot of people forget that YouTube used to be absolutely terrible and even looking at this bar the wrong way would break the stream and force you to refresh the whole page, regardless of browser or platform or actual connectivity. We had to suffer through this for almost 10 years before they fixed it.

You used to be able to play Snake on any Youtube video before by pausing and pressing left and up on the keyboard. It was removed when they updated the progress bar in 2015(?).

    9. Worth pointing out the first half were the Flash Player based ones and only the second half the HTML5 based ones.
