The worst kind of person.
If you have to have God to make you a good person, what kind of person are you?
Any relatively serious theologian should be condemning this reason pretty heavily. It carries a similar problem to Pascal’s Wager, theologically speaking.
My hypothesis
Trump has news that he’s dying. That’s what’s behind the heaven talk.
He wants to go to heaven because that’s where the best people go, or so he hears.
That’s why he wants a peace prize, wants to end a bunch of wars or at least claim to etc.
Trying to make up for past sins.
Trying to bully and grift his way into heaven.
I remember having this discussion with someone I knew well who took the bible literally.
He was of the opinion that without religion to tell you what to do it is impossible to be a moral person.

Anytime someone tells me they believe you need a religion to be good – it says a lot more about them.

Yet he has the gall to ask God to let him into heaven. If there was ever a time for God to return and tell us that we’ve completely failed so he’s dipping out on us… It’d be now.

It is honestly frightening to me that the only reason some people can be “good” is due to the threat of hell hanging over them. I guess it’s no great surprise that these same people are often incredibly hateful.
The thousands of things he knowingly does wrong are offset by his self-praise. Remember when he said he had nothing to be forgiven for?

The United States needs to get rid of this pro-Russian, corrupt and bad man as soon as possible, because he harms other countries. There are similar bad people in these countries who also want power. Together, they create problems in society that make people angry and aggressive. If this is not stopped, then great unrest and chaos will begin in the world.

trump seems to be under the impression that one can spend their entire life acting in bad faith, lying, cheating, stealing and committing every one of the 7 deadly sins and breaking all 10 commandments and then doing something good right before he croaks and still get into heaven.
If the only thing keeping you a good person is the fear of eternity in hell, you are not a good person.
Any religion that lets you be a complete bastard your whole life, do a deathbed conversion, and get into heaven anyway is a bad religion.
If you need the threat of eternal punishment, or the promise of eternal reward, to make you act like a good person, you are not a good person.
People who are actually good don’t need the promise of eternal salvation in order to be good.
I’m an atheist, but I’d be perfectly onboard with American evangelicals getting to meet a maker who then tells them they got the “Faith not Works” bit 100% wrong.
