I seriously don’t get this. I hate crabs (in the culinary sense), they look disgusting, couldn’t eat them. How are people not disgusted by them?

      I’m also kind of a bug-phobe tbf

    2. When the water police pull human bodies out the water, have a guess what they’re covered in……..

If you guessed prawns/shrimp, congratulations! Now you know what they feed on.

Don’t ever, ever, ever buy river prawns caught downstream of a town or city.

    3. I I’ve seen the giant worm parasites come out of crickets. It’s last on my list of radicle well behind straight grass.

I’ve been saying this forever. They are giant underwater bugs. They have an exoskeleton and goo on the inside. Some things should be off the menu, regardless of taste, because it’s “lowly”, parasite filled, disgusting, or intelligent (pigs).

    4. Sea arthropods have massive muscular tails and claws that are easy to chop off, clean, and they’re 95% delicious meat.

Land arthropods have a lot of armor and guts, and little meat.

    5. Sea bugs are large enough to have substantial meat in them, and once cooked, they have the texture/taste of actual meat. I haven’t eaten a bug, but I’d wager they don’t have much actual meat in them, and you’d be crunching on exoskeleton.

    6. I’ve had crickets ants and scorpion. They taste fine. Edible I guess.

I’ve had Crab, Shrimp, Sea Urchin, Lobster, and crawfish. They taste fucking delicious! I don’t know if it’s the coming method but aquatic bugs taste way better than terrestrial bugs.

Edit: I’m leaving it but that should say cooking somewhere in there.

OHH SHUT UP, I’VE SEEN THIS SOO MANY TIMES SEA ARE YUMMY BUT THE LANDS ARE YUCKY BUT EDIBLE, WOULD I EAT IT? YEAH IF IT’S FOR SURVIVAL OR SOMETHING BUT MAN SHRIMP ARE FAR BETTER

    8. I have often referred to crabs as “sea spiders.” I know if is not scientifically correct, but that’s what they look like.

Scorpions, beetles, crickets. A delicacy in Thaïland… Also maggots are appreciated, little bit like chestnuts puree.

    10. I don’t eat sea bugs if I can see the legs and all. Shrimp are fine if they’re already prepared.

What in the vegan propaganda is this??

First of all some groups of people do eat scorpions and other similar arthropods (with an R). One reason most of us don’t is lack of exposure, but also there’s the idea that we developed an evolutionary repulsion towards them and similar bugs to prevent consuming pathogens and parasites.

In contrast, marine arthropods are much safer and way more nutritious, and just an easy source of food if you live near the coast. Crustaceans have dense muscles that we can actually eat and enjoy because they’re delicious and probably because they’re delicious, they made their way to everyone’s table. Arachnids, scorpions etc need quite a bit more work to make them palatable.

Does that clear it up? This is at best interesting “funny”…

    13. My girlfriend hates it when she’s eating shrimp and I call them “sea bugs”.

“How’s the sea bugs today dear? Would you like some grasshoppers, a little surf and turf?”

      “Stop it, that’s gross.”

“But accurate. So, was that a yes?”

<<sigh, eyeroll>> [munch munch munch] *glare*

She really loves her shrimp too.
