You have a right to do it but it will turn Americans against your cause so it is almost always a bad idea if you want support from ordinary Americans. Americans are hyper-sensitive about the flag in a way that is hard for many non-Americans to understand. It is a sacred object to them.

The majority of the current Supreme Court would gladly argue, not only with a straight face, but also with a loud and thunderous voice, that burning a flag should have always been a crime rather than protected speech, but at the same time, if billions of dollars dumped into reelection campaigns isn’t speech, then they don’t even know what is.
