      Sailing gotten pretty crazy.

As we have gotten better at understanding lift generation, concepts like hydrofoils and super cavitation, and materials like carbon fiber and dyneema, it wouldn’t surprise me to see a space age super windjammer in the next 50 years.

Over the next 20 years I expect to see nearly every new large oceangoing civilian vessel incorporate some form of wind harnessing to reduce propulsion costs.

This is a fun one to look at IMO.

    2. Its insane thinking that we really might see the first “free” shipping trips in our lifetime (aka: crewless, powered entirely by onboard renewables like wind and solar)

Sea shipping is incredibly efficient already, I cannot wait to see what happens when you get rid of running costs like diesel fuel.

    3. Maybe if we heat up water and use it to drive a piston or something, we could aid these kite ships even more? Just a suggestion

    4. Sails to engines: “You couldn’t live with your own failure. Where did that bring you? Back to me!”
