A cool thing about the area I live in, I get to see one of the two remaining airworthy WW2 Avro Lancaster’s left in the world fly over my house every weekend in the summer.

    1. When my dad turned 70 he paid for a runway trip, no airtime just a runway run in a Lancaster.. and took me of all people.

I obviously didn’t appreciate what an honor it was, it was at the time just a obstacle to me getting high.

He’s gone but this post unearthed a reminder.

Seen it a few times with spitfires and a hurricane too but frankly I prefer to see those era planes flying by themselves just to hear them. Luckily seen this solo a few times and it’s magic

    3. I live near Geneseo, the air museum is housed on the farm airfield belonging to the family of a couple guys I went to high school with. Love the airshow everysummer – cant’ afford to go up [last price for a gooney was 250 each … ouch!]

    4. That’s awesome. When I was a kid we had Navy fighter jets do runs right overhead, but when I have traveled back I haven’t seen any.

Got to watch the Blue Angels practice a handful of years ago, it was crazy how close that they got to each other.
