The whole point of Trump mobilizing the National Guard is to get his side of the aisle complacent with it and then mobilize the shit out of them due to some made up emergency a month before the midterms. All in cities with high black populations, so that he can frighten and bully PoC.
I was politically ambivalent until 2016. Now, I intend to hang out by the polling station in my neighborhood that facilitates some lower income areas as well and make sure to record any asshat like this that tries to bully or question anyone.

The whole goal here is to scare vulnerable people away from voting. They don’t even need to deploy armed agents to polling places uniformly. Just the threat that it could happen will depress turnout. This is how an unpopular governing minority can consistently win elections and claim they are democratic. No need to go so far as to cancel them.
I used to monitor elections with the US government in Africa. We would cite the presence of police too close to a polling place as a violation of electoral law. Now it’s happening here.
