Corinthian Capitals, temple of Artemis, Gerasa, c.130 AD. Jerash, Jordan. Artemis, the patron goddess of the city, was likely the Greek interpretation of a local deity worshipped before their arrival. Although a complex propylaeum was completed, the temple itself was never finished. [1920×1280] [OC]
