I grew up while schools were barely starting to recognize mental illness. We still got shoved in a box together away from the normal people. What made it more annoying was that everyone who thought differently was put in the box despite having wildly different issues that should get wildly different treatment.
I changed schools in senior year and it was a much better program there, they correctly assumed that just because I don’t think normal doesn’t mean I have to be quarantined so I didn’t have to live in the box.
Now I just need to survive everyone on ticktock calling themselves mental because they like the color pink more than usual.

I guess their Tylenol just didn’t have the strength to knock your baby’s brain apart back then. /s
