Plymouth made waves when it introduced the Road Runner in 1968: affordable muscle with a lot of personality. So much so that Chrysler paid Warner Bros. $50,000 for rights to the cartoon character, plus another $10,000 to develop that famous “Beep-Beep” horn.

    By 1970, the Road Runner was a Motor Trend “Car of the Year” winner, and the ads leaned heavily into its cartoon-inspired fun.
