“In a quiet patch of ground in Louisiana, weathered by decades of seasons, lies a small stone marked with the name Buddie (1928-1941). The simple inscription, “Born a dog, Died a gentleman, reflects the enduring love between humans and their canine companions.

Graves like this remind us that dogs were not only guardians and helpers but cherished members of families long before the modern era of pet culture.

I found an old newspaper clipping about this grave on Findagrave.com
“he was a beautiful Irish setter, the owner (a Mrs. Jones) frequently took him to Kiroli Park to run. So when he died she decided to bury him in Kiroli Park”.

I count 13 years. Not 80. And dll ppl not come with ”dog years” – because who invented that?!

    3. There’s a giant pet cemetery in Dedham MA. Has graves starting from 1907. I saw Lizzy Borden’s dog’s graves there

    4. I would do anything to give buddie a nice scruff behind the back of his head and say, good boy

AKC has average Irish Setter life span 12-15 yrs. Might have been different 80 yrs ago?
