The Axe is made from Lousberg flint.Typologically, it is a so-called “parallel-blade axe". The striking brown patina on the flint can be attributed either to the influence of iron oxides in the soil or to intense thermal exposure (e.g., fire). Finds of this type date around 3,700 BC to about 2,100 BC, Late Neolithic to the Early Bronze Age. The handle got photoshoped by me, to visualize the original condition.Finds of this type date from around 3,700 BC to about 2,100 BC, from the Late Neolithic to the Early Bronze Age.
