My maternal grandfather at my parents’ wedding in 1956. He would die 2 years later at 45, 3 weeks before my birth, liver failure from drinking Vodka every day for 25 years.

    1. I was born 24 hours after the death of my Aunt… it was a confusing time for the family. I believe she passed in the same hospital and my mother was in labor pains…

I had a coworker years ago, a Ukrainian, he had fought in WW2 and his son, who also worked with me, said that the first thing his Dad did in the morning was light a cigarette and down 2 shots of vodka.

    3. He was 43 in this picture?

I thought alcohol was a preservative!

Looks like he chose the wrong cup…

Cheese on a cracker. I’m the same age as he was in the photo. He aged a lot in his lifetime

Previous generations be like “We didn’t have mental illness back in our time, we just drank hard liquor every day since we were young adults”.

How the fuck is that dude only 43!? I know, the drinking. It’s just hard to process that he’s only that old here.

    7. Ive had many relatives pass from alcoholism at a young age as well. It’s so tragic. I’m sorry you never got to meet him.

    8. Mother’s father died the same way, about the same age, a few months before I was born. Whiskey
