    1. Admirable if a crazy fuck. His face shows it. Visited Harper’s Ferry a few times. It’s amazing because his raid was about 5 years pre-Civil War and he fought against federal troops alongside black freedmen- and never surrendered- eventually captured and fearlessly went to the gallows. If nothing else, he had conviction.

Absolutely, stark raving Looney, and one of the greatest Americans to ever live.

What every Christian should aspire to be; virtually psychotic in his zeal for freedom, righteousness, and liberation of the oppressed. Unafraid of martyrdom. A true leader of men, and servant of God.

    4. Religious zealot, abused child who grew to be an abuser, terrorist and murderer. Given a few minutes effort, one can find strong corralry to modern day political violence. Maybe the citizens should stop killing each other over political differences.

His failed attempt did nothing but exacerbate the situation. Slavery was evil and wrong, but so was Bleeding Kansas and murdering US soldiers just standing guard duty.

    5. His actions helped solve the slavery problem GLOBALLY. He’s more than just an insanely violent American hero.

Remember when people were willing to put their entire lives on the line for a cause? This is the face of a man who did.

    7. Raymond Massey’s portrayal of Brown in Santa Fe Trail is an amazing performance.

Also, Errol Flynn as a young Jeb Stuart, and not-yet-President Ronald Reagan as a young George Custer.

Ironically, while Custer was unable to complete his plan to become President, due to an argument with Sitting Bill and the Sioux Nation, Reagan completed the journey for him.

You could say Reagan’s Presidency ‘trickled down’ from that role, har har

    8. If England can have a Guy Fawkes night, why can’t we have a John Brown night?

He captured Harper’s Ferry, with his nineteen men so few,

And frightened “Old Virginny” till she trembled through and through

They hung him for a traitor, themselves a traitor crew,

But his soul is marching on.

      Aged 26. Lolol

(I know he’s not but whenever I see old photos that are captioned by some ridiculous low age that they don’t look anywhere near)

    11. I have heard of him. PragerU put up a video defending the legacy of Robert E. Lee by noting that Lee helped to crush a slave revolt that Brown incited and finally bring Brown to justice after his years of interfering with property rights.

Turns out Victor Hugo took some time away from writing about french politics and the Parisian sewer system to pen an open letter asking for the pardon of John Brown

      >Politically speaking, the murder of John Brown would be an uncorrectable sin. It would create in the Union a latent fissure that would in the long run dislocate it. Brown’s agony might perhaps consolidate slavery in Virginia, but it would certainly shake the whole American democracy. You save your shame, but you kill your glory. Morally speaking, it seems a part of the human light would put itself out, that the very notion of justice and injustice would hide itself in darkness, on that day where one would see the assassination of Emancipation by Liberty itself.
