Is it still true that American Muscle and American Pick Ups often have identical engines?

Would that make them virtually equal at towing? I’m sure there’s loads of tuning beyond that, but Horsepower is Horsepower.

Edit: Yeah I see now that Suspension and Mass of the Towing Vehicle make a huge difference to how easy it is to tow something, (or more importantly, stop when towing something)

    2. My father used to tow a speedboat in his ‘62. They were both painted orange.

Big engine, big brakes, body-on-frame, it did fine. He had a fun 70s-80s.

You can tow with a Corvette, but you cannot race (properly) with a truck!

    4. I’m just thinking of the scene in Selena when the cholos in the lowrider offer to tow their tour bus out of the ditch. “Anything for Selenas!”
